We are surrounded by letters, and not just ones designed by typographers but also those that exist in everyday life. If we look a little closer, we can find the familiar forms of the ABCs everywhere – in a crack in the wall, the curve of a railing, or in a cloud formation. The Buchstabenmuseum Berlin and the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung invite you to explore your surroundings and take photos of these unnoticed alphabets of daily life. Post your photos on Instagram under the hashtag #myabc2021 and enter your letters in a contest for the most eye-catching ABCs!
You can submit one or more letters to our challenge under #myabc2021 until 22 April 2021. In your post, describe where you found the letter. A jury will choose the winners based on the originality of the images and the aesthetic quality of the photos. The best entry for each letter of the alphabet will be awarded 150 euros.
A professional typographer will design the 26 winning letters as a font, which we will present and offer as a free download on bauhaus.de and buchstabenmuseum.de.
